The Honorable Scott J. Drexel, Chief Trial Counsel
State Bar of California
1149 South Hill Street, 10th Floor
Los Angeles, CA 90015-2299
Dear Chief Trial Counsel Drexel:
I am writing to thank you for the courtesies and professionalism you’ve extended to me in your evaluation of the material I sent you August 18, 2006, regarding the California State Bar’s closure of my complaint against Attorney Robert T. Olmos, case number 06-13844. Your letter dated January 16, 2007, conveyed a precise and detailed understanding of Attorney Olmos’ unscrupulous conduct that I tried to communicate to the State Bar on March 6, 2006 and August 16, 2006. I appreciate the time and attention you gave in reviewing everything I sent you. Thank you for your role in that effort.
Soon after I received your correspondence, on January 30, 2007, the California State Bar’s Audit and Review Unit informed me that my complaint against the California Attorney who violated my constitutional rights and who denied me due process and equal protection of the law, Robert T. Olmos, will remain closed and that the State Bar will take no further action. As much as I want to advocate our judicial system, and believe that everyone is entitled to due process and equal protection of the laws, I can’t because Audit and Review has made it clear to me that only such privilege extends to people of celebrity status, witnesses of high profile murder cases, or men and women of scandal who make CNN Headline News.
As much as I wanted to file a verified accusation against Robert T. Olmos with the California Supreme Court within 60 days to seek review of Audit and Review’s January 30, 2007 decision, I couldn’t. The odds were stacked against me. I couldn’t find an attorney in Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin who is certified to practice California law to assist me in petitioning the California State Supreme Court. It was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Subsequently, because it was both an economic and geographic disadvantage to me, I had to accept things as they are and walk away from it knowing that I did everything I could have possibly have done to make things right.
Although Audit and Review’s decision is a painful and bitter disappointment to me, I sincerely appreciate everything you've done to help me. If only had Audit and Review considered and weighed the facts as you demonstrated in your written response, I would have been able to revindicate my voice and constitutional rights.
Respectfully yours,
Justice I. Diva
